Adult Alternative Rock/Pop
Preston’s music has been called Rock, Pop, Neo-Classic Rock, Progressive Classic Rock, Acoustic Blues and Folk Rock. It certainly has elements of all these genres but it seems to fit most comfortably within the genre of ADULT ALTERNATIVE ROCK/POP. Preston fuels his brand of Adult Alternative Rock/Pop, and Edgy Acoustic Rock/Pop (when unplugged), with a powerful frontman voice, rich with expression, that has been compared to Marc Cohn, John Mellencamp and Joe Cocker. His lyrics and melodies are carefully crafted, carried on driving rock beats and jangling pop. Think R.E.M. meets John Mellencamp, Lucinda Williams meets Bob Seger, with a little bit of Toad the Wet Sprocket. Preston’s music has been compared to artists like David Gray and Gus Black.
