Along Chicago was recorded at Strobe Recording in Chicago and produced by Jon Williams. In contrast with Preston's first album (Simple Life), Along Chicago is a rock album not driven mainly by guitar and percussion. Preston and Jon instead focused on texture and nuance, utilizing keyboards, strings and vocals to pace the album's mood.

SIMPLE LIFE
Preston Girard's folk rock is rooted lyrically in the shifting dark and light of a Kansas plain and musically in the marriage of melody and mood. He began writing music in 1997 set to poetry written by his father, suspense novelist James Preston Girard. Two years later, Preston started writing his own lyrics. He recorded a 5-song demo in 1999 and in March of 2002 he released an eleven-track CD called "Simple Life".
"Simple Life" was recorded at Argyle Sound in Chicago and was produced by Jon Williams. The CD showcases Preston's ability to move from rock to folk to blues to country and has been compared to the music of R.E.M. and Toad the Wet Sprocket.
Released in 2002. Purchase as a CD or mp3 download at CD Baby. Preview songs at MySpace.
